herokee Senior Citizens Program provides a friendly gathering place where seniors can meet friends and neighbors while participating in many activities and services designed to help maintain independent lifestyles.
Our programs provide support services, recreational activities, meals as well as information and referrals.
Cherokee Senior Citizens Programs are doing their best to enhance the lives of elders so they can live with dignity and choices in their homes and communities for as long as possible. is to provide services to any elderly client age 59 ½ or older. Our emphasis is on providing hot nutritious meals at the Tsali Manor, Snowbird and John Welch sites.

Congregate Meal Programs
A hot nutritious meal is served each weekday from 11:30 am to 12:00 pm in our bright and cheerful dining rooms. If a senior plans to attend they are required to call in to the center they wish to attend before 10:00 am to have their name placed on the meal count for that day.

Homebound Meal Program
Meals are delivered each weekday to homebound individuals. For more information contact Sherry Welch, Outreach Worker, at 828-359-6860 and Samantha Teesateskie at Snowbird Center at 828-479-9145. Homebound meals are currently unavailable in Cherokee County.
The Ensure Program offers short-term provision of meal replacement drinks for individuals who are on ANY program and have immediate need for weight gain or who are nutritionally compromised due to a current medical condition.
Transportation to and from the center, for those who are unable to drive themselves, is available through Cherokee Transit.
The arts & crafts area is always busy with a new project. The crafts are designed to promote creativity, hand manipulation and mind stimulation. All of which are essential to a senior citizens well being. All clients are encouraged to participate in any craft class that is offered. These activities begin around 10:00 am.
Senior Citizens Fuel/Emergency Assistance
Fuel season begins October 1st and runs until May. Applications are made available in September at any of our Senior Centers. Emergency Assistance is intended to help with emergency needs for utilities or basic essentials. Fuel program guidelines.
